Elegant Websites, Clear Communication

About Me

Bookworm, journalist, and designer

My freelance business is built on two decades of daily journalism, I loved almost every minute of newspaper life, particularly my editing days at the Sacramento Bee and the Washington Post. It was the perfect job for a bookworm with a B.A. in English.

But as the Internet grew, the newspaper industry’s future dimmed, I retooled for a second career. Fortunately I found Sacramento City College, where I took class upon class in the excellent Graphic Communications Department.

On-the-job training in marketing at a science museum readied me for self-employment. Thus began my specialization in nonprofit communications and fundraising., eventually transitioning to a free-lance career. When I became adept with the Squarespace platform, I decided to focus on web design and construction.

So here we are. Generally and specifically, my background has perfectly prepared me for my current endeavors. I can not only help you create an affordable website, I can help you with the text, images, and other marketing materials. I am a one-stop shop.

P.S.

I am not old enough to have used a manual typewriter. I am, however, “vintage” enough to make this claim: I have worked on a computer most every day since 1981. If you need a complex, technically tricky website, I am not the designer for you. But if you want a simple site that is attractive and low-maintenance, why not email me to arrange a free phone consultation?
